Chicago Aug 7 1888. H B Stone Esp. Genl. Mangr. WB & QRR Chicago

Dear Sir Following find report of Opt R.G. dated at Streator Ills. Saturday August 4, 1888 Opt reports, that: pursuant to Instructions from Mr. Paris he went north on the Q tracks and located the switches that he had been instructed to watch at night and then Opt went to a few of the saloons where the strikers hang out to see some of them in order that if they came around the tracks where Opt is stationed he would know them. At 7:45 pm it being near dark. Opt went to the vicinity of the switches which are located between the unclear R.R Crossing and the No 1 goal shaft. There are 6 switches there and lamps on but 5 of them. one switch leads to Round House has no lamp on and there is a regular path passing the switches and persons pass that way at all times and could turn the switch on a dark night and would not be noticed unless party guarding it was near at all times and in that case could not keep under cover. Opt sasw no one tampering with switches up until 3:30 a.m. and as all was quiet. Opt discontinued for the night
