Chicago Sept 6th 1888 H.B. Stone Esq. General Manager C.B.&Q. R.R. Chicago Dear Sir: Following find report of Opr. D.D.C. dated at Chicagoo: Sept 5th 1888: Operative reports that at 8 oclock A.M. he went to the Union Depot and there met Martin Flaherty: who said there was a good deal of dissatisfaction among the men on account of the Pay and that he was going over to see Moynigan (and by the way Opr says that that there is ill felling between Moynigan and Flaherty) Opr thought he would accompnay Flaherty and see what he could learn, therefore Opr accompanied Flaherty - and together they went to the vicinity of McCoys Hotel and met Cook and O'Brein! but Monigan was not there Mr. unclear expected him at any time: so Opr stayed around there: and there went away learning word that they would call again. Flaherty and Cook in the meantime went to see Pat McGrath clerk of the Superior Court who wants the Office again: they wanted to get some money out of him but he is going to see them again and if he thinks the Independent Club can be won over for him, he will put up some money. Flaherty told McGrath that they were under heavy expense one of these items was 10.00 per week for a Room at McCoys.
