and Tatters? met Geo Clark near the hall and bespoke to them, saying "he was going to take his medicine today, & said he heard that Bowles was here. Clark shortly afterwards entered the hall, Opr. & Tatters? then went to the Clifton House where they met Engineer Wm Wardrope & he told Opr. that he arrived from Buda last night. Opr. asked him if he came to testify and he said he did not, but he came to get his money. Opr. asked him if he remembered of ever seeing Bowles and he replied that E. Clark & Ed. Rogers took dinner at the Clifton Hotel with him (Bowles) one day. Wardrobe said he would never come to town if he bought they would want him to testify. They shortly afterwards met J. Boyd and visited saloons on Prairie St. and then went to the courthouse and heard part of the examination. They left the court at 11.30am and went to Yardt's saloon where each treated to the drinks and then went to the Hotel and had dinner. At 1.30 pm. Opr. and Wardrope went to Yardt's? saloon where Opr. treated and they then went to the Court House where they met B. Devro and several others. Bowles was on the stand. They would when speaking of Bowles call him all kinds of names. The room was full of strikers.
