Chicago July 23d 1888 H.B. Stone Esq. General Manager C.B. & {?] R.R. Chicago Dear Sir. Following please find report of C.W. dated at Galesburg Ills. July 20th 1888 Today is Galesburg Opr went to the CB &O Depot and met Supt Rice. Mr Rice said he was going to Chicago to have a talk with Mr Daws the Attorney. Opr met the ? Marshall of Galesburg who took Opr to his office where he had the pages of the different Hotel Registers. I found that Bowles has registered at Browns Hotel on the 15th day of May under name of J. Sangford. "for dinner" again on the 15th of May he was registered at the Wilton for supper as J. Sangford from ? Va. on May 16 he is registered at the Union Hotel for dinner as J Sangford on the 8th of June there appears 3 names on the Register at the Wilton House. Edward Rogers Elmore Worth and R Smith. Jim Boyd the clerk says that the man Smith is the same man that registered on the 15th as Sangford. Geo Clark got a horse and buggy from Andy Dow a livery man here on the 15th of May at 1pm. and returned with it at 5pm. on the night of the 26th of May. Dow says that an Engineer but he did.
