D.D. for Aug 8th & 9th Wednesday, Aug 8th 88 Today in Chicago Opr. reports that there has been a large number at the National Hotel, most of the General Grievance Committee stopping there, and did most of them drinking considerable especially Dennison of the B & O and You? of the Nickel Plate. They had a meeting in the afternoon in which some very bitter speeches were made by ? in regard to the way Chief Arthur has been assailed by some of the ? men, he said that it would not do at this time for if they commenced to suspect their Chief of disloyalty they might as well break up the Brotherhood entirely and call things at an end because Arthur had done all that he could do for the men now out and it would not do to give him the worst of it because he did not think the way that
