2/ 10a.m. when he went home. at 2 p.m. I went to the P.O. and received a letter from Supt J.C. McGinn to make arrangements to leave Aurora and come to Head Quarters, I concluded it would be best to leave Aurora in such a manner that it would not look suspicious if I should come back. I started home wrote a letter addressed it to myself - I wrote that 2 relatives of mine had just arrived from the Old Country and I was to go and see them at South Bend Indiana at 4 p.m. I met Burns in his buggy and he asked me to take a drive I went to N. Aurora with him and returned at 6 p.m. at Supper I met Spellman who wanted me to go to the Theatre with him I excused myself went to P.O. got my letter the 1st man I met was Mortimer also Tasmer. I told them I was going to South Bend Indiana, to see my Cousins but would probably return again to Aurora to see a Young Lady I have supposed to have been keeping company with, and also see if she would go with me: we went to unclear had some drinks: Mortimer expressed himself as sorry that I was going, saying he had been so used to have my Company. I then went home, told the same story to all. Mortimer soon came in and after Supper pressed me to go to the Theatre with him it being my last night there and having no reasonable excuse for me not joining the party I went along with them but learned nothing not heretofore reported- For Oct 4th unclear Opr further reports as follows: At 9 a.m. I started out. Met Tasmer on B.way went to Shorts had some beer. told him I was going to South Bend Indiana to meet 2 Cousins just over from the Old Country and would stay with them for a while
