Lucy July 6 1855 Bangor July 6 1855 Mine dear Brother Your most acceptable letter of June 29 was rec'd last night. It is now quarter past eight P.M. Samuel is at the store as usual, little P.P. in his crib asleep, Lizzie eating pea-nuts on the lounge & Ellen in the kitchen knitting. I have been in the garden watering and tending since tea. I do great business there, I can assure you. I wrote you latterly directing to Du Quoin, telling you all about the garden and how the labor of your hands is prospering, but I think it doubtful if you got the letter before leaving. I am quite a husbandman these days and my out door labors are decidedly beneficial to me. I have thoroughly wed my posy patch, so there is hard by a weed to be seen in the paths or
