Great cannon firing and rejoicing over the Vera Cruz victory Wednesday. We have discovered a new kind of drawing pencils at the bookstores, which are very good, but which we don't exactly understand. Can you give us any light? The box containing seven pencils is lettered as follows:

The pencils are all labelled "D. Koch Regensburg" and marked as above according to their numbers. What mean they? We suppose it to be German lingo, but need an interpreter. The pencils are of an excellent quality. fifty cents a box. Angella Dennett & Sarah Treat are both here taking Galvanism. They think it very beneficial, though Mr. Weston's folks think Sarah in Consumption - past recovery. I fear she is. I attend the new church and S.S. with Joseph.
