girl can not come til tomorrow, and I have found rather hard times to get along. When we got here, I had Percie all wrapped up till Sam'l made a fire & milked the cow, then gave him his supper & put him to bed, and laid on the lounge while Sam'l borrowed bread and got supper. It began to rain just before we got home, & rained so hard that they could not send up food from Eliab's, as they intended till next day. Yesterday, because all the tomatoes were spoiling, I made preserves & ketchup, and feel about done over today - but have nothing to do but rest, as Mallie is going to send up our dinner, and a woman is here washing & cleaning up. The girl Caroline expected to come yesterday, but could not till tomorrow.
