March 1853 Sunday Morn, 12th Dear Mother
I write a few lines this morning before meeting, so as to send before Wednes. Samuel is gone again up river - went last Tues. intending to be gone some days but n=met some of the men at Mattawamkeag with the bodies of two of his men that were drowned in the Millinocket Lake in going needlessly from one camp to the other Sunday night so he came back with them Wednes. started again yesterday to be gone a few days now we want much that you should come down next Thurs. if the travelling is such that you can comfortably come in the stage - we want you here very much more for many reasons Lucy has ill turns once in a while and needs you here. yesterday after getting Sam'l off at the early ? baking bread and half a dozen pies and getting all into the oven by nine o'clock she had a turn of feeling strangely and we sent for the doctor who told her it was overstraining of the nervous system: now she won't mind me, but perhaps she would you; there are other reasons, plenty of them, why it seems to us best that you should be here as soon as you can consistently. As to the ribbon you wrote about I will attend to it the first opportunity to send. Much love to all Anne
