we had but an hour however to enjoy it when we went whizzing along the road to Rochester; we passed many fine villages, several large lakes, Auburn State Prison & Salina Saltworks, --arrived at Rochester about one, and by a previous arrangement and invitation on their part, were distributed two and two, among different families,- the first in the place- and then we were entertained four days, over the Sabbath- and a delightful time we all had; it fell to my lot to go to a Mr. Allen edition of a daily paper-- very excellent people-- he had a very handsome library ; in the garden was a quantity of grapes growing, with which I often regaled myself.
