really 'green' and stupid to be obliging, ready to exert one's self for the good of others, one is neither liked so well, nor treated so well as if selfish rather cold hearted, with a smooth tongue - this is one of the lessons experience of the West has taught me! - But in the retrospect of past two years, I am satisfied: The circumstances in which I have been placed, have furnished just the discipline and training that I needed, just that which will be useful to me as long as I live: I have experienced much that was pleasant, - far more than I anticipated: I have saved more, (though little enough to be sure - than in any other two years of my life and shall have besides, the advantage and benefit of the journey and travel back and forth I feel very unwilling to pass my Niagara Falls, and hope I shall not have to - should have been very glad to have seen the north western part of this state the finest part and already very flourishing: If I should engage in teaching again I should prefer the region about St. Paul's to any other I think: perhaps after the Furber's get settled there I may go - should prefer teaching out the west rather than at the east and feel as if the journey here would be but a pleasant excursion, instead of the formidable undertaking of former years.-
