all summer - came back from Warren 1st of Sept. quite feeble she was able to go twice to see her mother with effort - was not at the funeral: She is now confined to the bed: it is two weeks since she has attempted to be dressed. She is wasting away has just such a cough & short difficult breathing as Lucy had: she suffers much uncomplaining quiet & peaceful as ever. the front parlor is her room. Naomi is with her doing every thing for her just right as she knows how, devoting herself to the sick room: this is a great comfort & relief to me. Hattie likes on the whole, better than she expected, is doing well we think: we sent her a carpet for her room two weeks ago, by express - have not yet heard since but probably shall soon. Libby is very well now goes to school & makes her way well in school life & duties & is really a good, affectionate girl; She takes care of her own room & does it nicely, keeping her washing apparatus neat & her room dusted & nice. I feared she would give me some trouble in this matter but she does not at all. The Doctor has not been quite so well as usual for a few weeks past: his dyspepsia troubles of long standing, seem to be worse than usual now, (during most of the past year he says he has been there before for ten years) I feel that he needs to be very careful in order to preserve his health especially at this changeful season. Next week he expects to go to Akron on bank business & Isaac Nettie & myself propose going too, as far as Cleveland for the purpose of selecting
