love to the brothers Elyria Oct. 10 1854 health. Almeda has not written me word yet; I received a a day or two since a good long letter from Isaac , quite wonderful for him, of late. I need not mention any news of him for you have probably heard as recently as I have. He said Charles was coming home now soon, I hope he will come this way should think he would certainly unless he can have a free pass in part over the other route which is not very unlikely. Still I can't bear the thought of his passing so near as that, without coming here. We are all very well; the children go to school we are expecting Dewies & wife here now every day ; with our little grandson. I am going to take pains to teach him to call me grandma. Did I write you that they have recently buried their youngest a year old of cholera infantum. A lady here has just buried her only one a sweet child three years old of dysentery; ending in dropsy of the brain; Both parents seem as if refusing to be comforted, it is a savage strike "tears one in every part of the vale". Does Ellen still remain & good? Our grapes are now in greatest perfection & abundance too; I am going to make some grape preserves the docter's favorite kind. We have made 13 lbs of peaches very nice, having them whole I mean to make us some quince marmalade.

I wish I could set before a great plate full of our fair grapes.
