a gentleman acquainted with the world, too literary to have been in business appearing altogether very much like a collegian and as if from Cambridge he wanted to conceal himself so got on the cars, rode to the last town in New York his name is Dana and I believe (from his appearance, he is from Boston or that region though he says he is from the eastern part of the State; he is quite a romantic mystery in our little quiet obscure world

I have begun the Macauley's history but progress slowly I have a delightful book on hand 'Allston's lectures on Art and Poetry' Many thanks for the dear little bouquet so nicely pictures.Mrs, Woodbury will making herself a dress by my side, dear, good, laughing girl substantially good in person and in mind and full of fun as needed of me? & yet with a deep, quiet, refined feeling she sends love.
