I send this Proverbial Philosophy & Lucy says keep it in a drawer only when you are using it & if Charles wants to read it make him!! Time so as not to get the edges soiled &c I send up a pair of shoes that I bought of Jos. with the determination of wearing them to keep my feet warm but they made my heels so sore that I was obliged to put the aside, I have since got a pair of boots that are much better because they keep the ankles dry: if you can wear them do s if not send them back & Jos. will put them in his store again. I am quite well & get along finely, it is such very bad walking that Lucy now could not well go down town to get the things but I can send you some thread & will try to impress it upon C. to buy a Comb.- I think you ought to make James work, some or he will get into bad habits and do take comfort yourself & not work hard. Mrs. H Sargent would be glad to help you & easy pay, especially James, clothes. You will have enough to do
