Satisfaction of my safe arrival I Desired of them to Send a Couple of Canoes
to fetch Down the Goods from Chartiers old town where we had been oblidged
to leave them because our horses being all galled on their Backs and tired gave them a string
of Wampom to Inforce my Request.

the 28 lay still the 29 the Indians set off in three Canoes to fetch the Goods, I Expected the Goods

would by that time they Could land at Chartiers old town, all have Come from frankstown, as we met about
20 horses of G. Croghan at "Shawanos Cabins in order to fetch them
This day News Came to the town, that they 6 Nations were on the point of
Declaring war against the french, for the Reason the french had imprisoned
some of the 6 Nation Chiefs who came to them as Deputies a Counsel was held
and all the Indian acquainted with the News and it was said the six Nations
message was by the way to give all the Indians Notice to make Ready to fight
the french. that day my Companions went to Caskasky a large Indian
              town about 30 miles of.

the 31 Sent andrew back to Caskasky with a string of Wampom, to let the Indians

there Know. that it was an act of their own that the Ensuing Councill must
be held at loystown, they had orderred it so last Spring when George Croghan
was up, & at the last treaty in lancaster the Shawanos & Twich twees
were told so and they Stayed Accordingly for that purpose; both would
be offended if the Councill was to be held at Caskasky, besides tgusm my
Instruction binds me to loystown and Could not go further without
             Giving offence

Sept the 1 the Indians in logstown having heard of the Messuage from Caskasky

Called a Councill sent for me to know what I Was Resolved to do. and told me
that the Indian at Caskasky were no more Chiefs than themselves. and
last Spring they had Nothing to Eat and Expecting they would have nothing
at your Arrivall ordered the Counsel Should be held here. now their corn is
ripe the think to Remove the Counsel, but they ought to Stand by their
word we have Kept the tweech wees here & our brethern the Shawanos
