whednesday the 5th June 1743 This day in the Goal the Indians was exceeding carefull of me and would not suffer me out of their sight. nor permit me to speak with any of the French people least I should ask them news, or that I should endeavour to make my escape, they also told me that if one of us should make our escape from them, they would kill all the rest. I observed that they was more suspicious of me then of any of the rest and would not confide in me so far as to trust me to go to the fountain alone, which was but about a pistol shot from our quarter. wheres any of the rest might cut word gone from our quarters for the value of two hours, and not be asked after, and especially cut word read the Englishman that was taken on Goat Island that belonged to Capt Jno Gorhams Companey
