At 5 PM the water shoaling rapidly came to off Sandy Island. to the S of Sandy island is a point of land which extends out a great distance in the sea it is quite low. The sandy isle above mentioned is very low and on the n' end of the island to the nw about 2 miles is a line of coral reefs over which the breakes violently on each side of it is a bank or shoal on which very fine fish are caught by the Natives. The entrance to St. Augustin bay is by no means difficult the entrance laying to the W'd with plenty of water and from 10 AM till sun set the sea breezes blows fresh whilst from mid to 8 AM the land breezes blows off shore. so there is but little trouble going in
