 I believe I have written to Sister Anne since my school closed, and perhaps probably you have seen that, so I need not wrote too you any thing of that, as news. Since then I have remained at Turner, studying some, loafing & visiting some, and enjoying myself some.

It was rather bad that my Winter school was delayed so long. I hoped to have avoided it, but was unable, and it got too late to engage another.

As I had to wait, and could do nothing to much advantage, if I came to College, the Turner people kindly invited me to spend the time there, which was quite convenient, and saved me considerable expense here.   I came here with about $60.00 in my pocket, at least I received that a few days before. I have paid $2.75 for a pair boots, Postage Bills at Turner & Summer term at Bowdoin, about $2.37 1/2  Stationary etc. $2.75.  Then Expenses coming down .50 I owe Stanwood here, cloth for my coat & things five or six dollars. Wash woman bill -- $1.50, I guess, or more. The my watch, $19.00. Stage fare to be paid to Richmond perhaps $1.50 -- etc.etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

So I have considerable of an idea that I shall not pay this fall a great deal to Old McKeen the College Treasurer of the $50.00 or 60.00 standing against me on my term bills. However some $25.00 of that I never mean to pay, being that on my first bill, charged for Advance Standing Tuition etc. for the Freshman year. You know I have never given them the required Bonds! & Wont!
