It is Sabbath day. Rev. Mr. Eddy gone to Mass. Deacon Meeting! Old Deacon Dresser frightened me summat over he called upon Mr. Metcalf to come out before the great Congregation, (being a rainy day, it warnt awful big though! and read the sermon. Howsoever it would not do for the Master to be bashful, if his knees did tremble! However they all said I preached better than the Deacon some, I suppose when one writes a letter, it is necessary to tell the news. - Well Miss Eliz. Greely has got home, from Portland! Miss Carey & Miss Cushing & Miss Bradford & Miss True & Miss Bates etc. etc. etc. are at home, & probably are well! I know not till your letter whether Ann was in Bangor or Boston. Never knew of Charles driving steers to Bangor. You had not informed me of that other thing or of any thing else, that had taken place since about July sometime, & Worse yet nobody else has! Why should G.W.B. Butters be disappointed at Georgia? What is J.L. Rickers situation? What are Eliabs prospects? And your own? And the rest of the folks? Letter from Chum at College yesterday. Oh dear the lessons! Please to write, and often, once a fortnight, & tell Eliab to
