Dear Brother

I received your letter day before yesterday. I have just written a letter to Sister Lucy in answer to one I received a while since, and believe I shall enclose it to you, As it is just as cheap, and perhaps she would get it more conveniently from you than if directed to herself.
I have about concluded to stay here this fall at any rate, it will be a great advantage to me at any rate, in many respects, and I had better stay here somehow, if I cannot get a chance to earn considerable somewhere, to help me along another year, and I dont see as I am likely to.

I should like now to be here at the beginning of the next term and stay a spell, if not more than four weeks, if I could then get a winter school to begin by the first of Nov. so as to end by the beginning of the spring term, it would just exactly suit me.

Our Examination is three weeks from last Wednesday Aug 6th., but my business, as Treasurer of Athenaean, and Steward of Boarding Club, require rather imperiously, my presence here Commencement week or I should come home then. If I go home it will be Sept. 5th, getting into Bangor Sat. Sept. 6th, probably. I dont know but it would be better then to stay, even the three weeks, and would cost less, if I could find nothing to do to earn any thing here. I was not anxious about Eliab's, but your own, please you. Thank Eliab for his letter, & will write him soon.

Excuser is your verb. At some rate I must have, 25,00 this vacation besides a Coat & a hat, which I need before Com. but can do without. Please write soon again good bye
