The Lord has granted his Spirit again even to me. Oh how far, awfully far, I was from him, even if I had ever know him. How much I needed his converting spirit! and still need it! I hardly know for how long I had not offered up one really sincere, hearty prayer to God. I do hope that God has converted me anew. I get along pretty well in my studies. French is easy, but we study it thoroughly. Trigonometry is pretty. I like it well & dont get screwed. Rhetoric we have finished studied it 'terribly.' Homer, Greek, I dont like quite so well comes hard to me. We write themes once a fortnight, begun this term. Declaim once a term. There is considerable doing here. I suppose two about the most elegant buildings in the state, going up this summer. They have begun upon our chapel & there are some 'acres of stones' in our yards.
