Isaac DuQuoin, Feb. 5. 1857 Elyria -- Du Quoin Perry Co. Illinois Thursday Feb. 5. 1857 Evening My Wife I wrote you last evening perhaps rather - not entirely discouraged, or absolutely melancholy - by slightly disappointed and considerably longingly. I had got no letter from Friday to Wednesday. Tonight I feel better, for I have got two letters, yours of Jan. 28th & 30th, last week Wednesday and Friday. One of them eight days on the way. The other six. Well I am consoled right smart. The letters are not very long both of them; but they are sweet It does me ever so much good to know you are getting along so comfortably. I am pleased that you have got the new girl who does well. I am much more glad that you all seem to be so well and comfortable. My letters seem to be delayed as much or worse than yours. You rec'd none from Saturday 24th to Friday 30th. I guess there has hardly been two days at a time that I have not written to you since I left home. Often everyday
