'but I believe better; purer, and having most of the finer, better feelings, of human nature; from circumstances, & education. Every external influence is with them, is not always at work to sink poor human nature still lower. Many things contribute to make the character of females generally purer & better than that of males, so that if their Creator made them as good as the other sex, we may just conclude that circumstances have made them better. Common Observation shows this, and also the excellent influence of female society, especially upon young men. You may be sure to find the young man who is without any Sisters, destitute of the better part of human nature, at least if it has not been made up to him in some other way, while a really bad man, who had a good mother, and had been brought up in a family of good sisters, and other female society, would be an anomaly. The beneficial influence of virtuous females, or the beneficial effect of their society has never been overrated.

 The extent of the ill influence of the unworthy part of the sex, proves nothing against the position; in fact it only strengthens it. for it illustrates the power & extent of female influence whether exerted for good or for bad.  I do not know as I have succeeded in any degree in conveying my ideas to the paper, but I do truly believe that the society, and intimate companionship of the really estimable of the other sex must, of necessity, have an effect to devote, to soften, and in truth to ennoble, the minds and characters of men, especially of young me, (minds easily acted upon), and in such degree & way as the society of the equally worthy of the other sex would not, if indeed any thing else could.
