Dear Mother We are all very pleasantly situated here, pleasant rooms. etc. etc. Can step out of the back door into the Academy yard. I am on about the same foundation as last autumn; am occupied in the regular recitations just 2 hours out of The Six, at present. Have a very good class in Algebra, 2 in Grammar & one in Arithmetic besides a private class or so, out of school hours. And then we are so handy here that we have an abundance of callers, of all kinds, many come in for assistance in all branches. I am studying "Menophon" and "Livy", on the regular college course. I can fit, I suppose to enter a year in advance this fall, if I try. I have not concluded! I am also dipping into the more extended college course of Mathematics. I am getting along finely, can do up the regular college lessons throughout in a few hours per diem. School commenced with 52 students, & at present, constantly increasing. Shall not have more than 100 in all_ pretty good for a Spring term. Joseph is here now, has been ? where to get something to do - mind is on every bit studying. Lucy's health is not very good, perhaps not so good as it was last spring, takes cold easy. She has been shut up in the house so all winter been out but one or twice till she came here. No horse, at home, know. I think her health will improve here, if she is careful, does not have to go but a step or so in bad weather & walking. I do not believe Eliab has got along so well in study this winter as Lucy has, at home alone, I at work all the time. She went through Smith thoroughly at home, & is getting along finely in Algebra. will be one of the best in my class. We rec'd a letter from Eliab via John Cutler last week or so. When are you coming home; I have very little faith in Eliab's going to learn a trade in Boston;
