longer have dominion over me. Let me strive with my might to enter in at the straight gate. In Christ is my hope, of myself I can do nothing. Sab. Jan. 20. Father preached in the forenoon & Mr. Cook in the afternoon. Thank God that I have been enabled to think less of the world than usual this day. Still my wicked heart binds me far to strongly to earth. I know I do not strike as I ought to enter in at the straight gate. My heavenly Father may well withhold his presence from me. ? would I be more devoted to his service here.

I wonder that I can feel so little for my dear brothers and sister & other friends who are without hope. Let me reflect how uncertain is life & that at any moment they are liable to be removed to another state of existence to be forever happy or miserable forever & can I rest - can I be unmoved? O my Father, grant thy Spirit, let it come over me with Almighty Power. I will pray more than ever for its descent. "Perhaps Will hear my cry."
