May 5 1854, Left Duquoin early in the morning for journey to New unclear. Fine day, pretty warm, reached Mr. Lemon's to spend the night. Scenery on the Prairies very fine. Beautiful swells crowned with trees, now & then a grove, some pretty unclear. May 6, 1854 Started early for St. Lewis. Passed urbana [image] Papstown, Bellville [image] Illinoistown. reahed St Louis between one & two Went to the Virginia Hotel Pleasant room -good accommodation- [unclear] sabbath.
