We, her parents, left her to her own decision, stating things for & against as far as we could discern them. Mary is tenderly attached to her friends, and to leave them, for so long a time, was more than a heart, less brave than hers could bear. She always expressed the greatest love ad gratitude for you and Mr. Metcalf, whose interest in her behalf, especially when teaching in Elyria, she fully appreciated.
You are aware, perhaps, of our latest plans respecting my labors in the Inst. the coming year. I am to spend my nights at home, and at the Boarding Hall, wh. will be opened for young ladies at the beginning of the Spring term. Of course I shall greatly need efficient help in the domestic dep. at home - and have as yet no prospect in that direction that is satisfactory.
