My dearest:

      Sabbath evening- Mother on the lounge resting. Mary Rich reading. Eliab gone to ?, children all sleeping - wish we knew just what you were doing, or at least whether you are safe in DuQuoin. I have had two letters - one from Gallion, and one from Mattoon - sorry we all are for your delays - hope you will be able to make connections so as to get home by Saturday night at any rate. Eliab thinks to go tomorrow morning. He spent most of yesterday at Charles' - Hattie DeWitt was here to supper with him, and he went back with her about eight, and stayed an hour or two. Hattie had a long story to tell him. I did not go out to day - it is very wet walking. Albina & Charles & Anna & George stopped after meeting till almost night. We had a good time
