Cool and windy, country considerably unclear, we have been following along the Burlington Rail Road most of the time since learning the Mississippi RIver passed through Fairfield and camped at Batavia?, traveled 18 miles. Thursday Aug 7. Weather cool. Passed through Ageney and unclear. The last being the present terminess? of the Burlington RR. It is full of business situated on the Des. Moines River. Corn is $1 per bushel and hard to find, hay is $1 per hundred pound and unclear. Ferried the river and camped 2 miles unclear. Traveled 16 miles.
