made some preparations for a change of business &c

Sunday 14th The day was rainy and unpleasant. Friend Wycliff and I spent the day in reading singing and conversing on different topics &c. To day I enjoyed myself the best that I have any Sabbath since I landed in auriferous land.

Monday 15th To day H and I packed our little household articles, ground our axes, and made preparations to leave town tomorrow.

Tuesday 16th In the morning we put our baggage on board a wagon and sent it to Auburn. At noon we took our blankets and a pass from M C and started on foot for Auburn. Well thought I, this taking up our beds to walk. Night overtook us when at the forks house and we put up for the night. The being all occupied we were obliged to make our beds in the hay mow.

Wednesday 17th We arose at an early hour and finished our journey to A?. We here bought our breakfast, after which bought a few life preservers, borrowed
