The Brigadier General Commanding directs that you communicate with General Fuera of the Mexican Army and inform him that he regrets exceedingly his compelled absence from his Headquarters at this time, and hopes the General can postpone his visit until Early in January. If he cannot come then to San Antonio, the Department Commander will be very glad to meet him at Piedras Negras or at Fort Duncan. Very respectfully

The following dispatch just arrived from Colonel Davidson at Fort Sill under date of 23rd. instant. "Capt. Keyes, tenth Cavalry, reports following a trail of Cheyennes from Barry's Creek on the Washita to the North Fork of Canadian eighty miles and capturing the band consisting of fifty two Cheyennes and seventy ponies. They belong to medicine Waters and medicine Arrow's bands. I have ordered him into the post by easy marches as the chase was rapid and exhausting." (Sgd.) C. C. Augur
