    MacKenzie struck the Indians in canon of Main Red River at mouth of Canaditas Blancos at daylight twenty eight (28) of September - destroyed five (5) small camps and captured fourteen hundred and twenty four (1424) ponies, colts and mules, of which he killed ten hundred forty eight (1048).  His loss three (3) horses slightly wounded.  Four (4) dead Indians were found on the field.  His camp on October 1. was on Tule Creek, Staked Plains.

                      Dispatch received from Gen. Sheridan - Buell struck Camp of hostile Indians October ninth (9th) on headwaters of Salt Fork Red River near Staked Plains, destroying it and killing one (1) Indian, then continued pursuit up the river destroying Camp of seven (7) Lodges one of seventy five (75) and finally one of about four hundred (400) driving the Indians still further west on to the edge of Staked Plains were they turned North to headwaters McClellan's Creek and North Fork.  Buell is still pursuing.  Large amount of Indian property destroyed and many ponies abandoned.  A small party went into Sill Oct. Eigtheenth (18th) and asked for terms for seven (7) Comanche Chiefs and their people, none will be given except surrender of arms, persons and property.  Davidson moved with his column Oct. twenty first (21st). Forty days Rations for men and horses have been sent to Buell. Nothing from MacKenzie to who I sent copy of this via Richardson.
