63 These prisoners you will release and sent with sufficient Escort to Fort Griffin, whence they will be sent by the Commanding Officer of that post with escort to Fort Richardson.

    The Commanding Officer of that post will sent them to Fort Sill with necessary Escort and turn them over to the Indian Agent, Mr. Tatum.
    The Escort and transportation sent from Each post will return after reporting at the next post with the prisoners.

                              The Mexican woman, Mortine Diaz, has arrived and been restored to her friends.
        Mr. Smith and Mr. Kohn, are both anxiously awaiting the arrival of their sons.  At the same time with Mortine Diaz, was captured a Mexican boy, named Sephasius Trivina, aged eleven years, she reports still with the Indians.   His father came to see me to-day, concerning him and I promised to write and ask your aid in recovering him.  Although of Mexican parentage, he was born in Texas, and is an American citizen, and comes within the category of those to be restored by the Indians.
        It is proper for me to inform you, that in the minds of those familiar with circumstances, attending the reported capture by Indians of Mrs. Fields, grave doubts exist as to whether she was really captured by Indians at all.    I enclose you copy of letter received from Lt. Col. Shafter on the subject of Mr. Fields himself admits to me, that he had doubts about it.  I think however, we should not relax our efforts to ascertain certainly, whether she is with the Indians or not.
