        Report also, if these Indians communicated with the Mexican authorities, and the result of such communication, and where, in Mexico, they have located.
         Learn as far as possible the names of the tribes and the numbers with them, and as far as practicable the number of horses, mules and cattle taken with them into Mexico and, if possible, the brand on same, and generally everything attainable relating to these Indians.

                                   I see that the Commission has been deprived of the room, assigned for their use by Col. McCook.  Write at once to the Commission, that the room is at their service as long as they require it.    You should not have interfered with the arrangement made, without any authority.
