My Dear General.

   Your favor of July 26th last I found here on my arrival yesterday from [?Shonon?] and Saratoga, where I had taken Mrs Hancock on account of her health.  I came home suddenly on account of the Greely [?dead?] ceremony and those of the [?Bonchard's?] statue which I had charge of or connection with:
