94 were fled out of ..but the enimy knew not of their flight & so suposing the mil to be strong they decided not to Attack it: At the same time Capt Cutler of Charlestowne with a small company, having the convoy of som crts, from Marlborough that were coming to Sudbury, having secured his carrige at a garison house; escaped narrowly; from being cut of by the enimy, the enimy also at the time cut of some english souldiers that were coming downe under the conduct of one Cowell of Boston that had beene a convoy to som provisions to Quabage fort. But I have to farr digresed, Therfore to Returne, to the company of the ch[ris]tian Indians, who as soon as they had made a full discovery, they Returned to their captaine and the rest of the English, & gave them an Acct of their motions, then it was concluded to march over to the place & bury the dead; & they did so, shortly after, that day - our Indians marching in two files upon the wings, to secure those that want to bury the dead; God so ordered it that they met with no interruption in that worke, our Indians found only 4 dead indians of the enimy covered up with loggs & Rubish, this service (so faithfully) performed by our ch[ris]tian Indians had the effect to abate (with many) their former hatred of them especialy at sudbury som of the people wherof had formerly don much injury to those ch[ris]tian friends whilst they dwelt at Naticke, for som of them know they have taken sevrall things from them, & never restord them, as gunns, utensels for carts & plowes, corne & swine & materials of Iron worke belonging to a saw mill & other things, their conscience can best witnes what they are & if they do not make restitution I feare they will have litle comfort at death though they please themselves with this ntion that the enimy indians Robd & plunderd them of such like things but this wil not be (I contend) a sufficient warrant to wrong the inocent or Rob honest men because thieves of the same nation have robed them but I name no persons but leave the matter to God & their own consiences, desiring they may Repent & make restitution
