Sir Since writing you this AM have thought your presence here at the "Big" Council would have a unclear effect by impressing the Indians with the Idea that the Govt" meant business and that they better devise some way of their own. to get their followers on to the Reservation with their flocks and herds and keep their stock there unless they want to be taxed by the unclear Hence If I do not come there tomorrow I hope you will come here on the 5th if possible

I hear a rumor of One Stevens being shot at over East (near Man? camp) but know nothing of it certain. And if Patterson knew of it there would be little probability of his doing anything for the Indians neither fear love or respect him.
