             The 42nd U. S. Infantry having arrived at this post to prevent delay in its consolidation with the 6th U. S. Infantry and in pursuance of General Orders No. 5. par. V from Headquarters Department of the Mo. dated April 3d 1869.  You are hereby directed to assign and distribute the enlisted men of that Command in such a manner as to equalize as far as possible their strength and efficiency.
