today. Yesterday I had a letter from Mate saying Edward was quite sick--the Dr feared at first that he was going to have typhoid fever, but when she wrote she said he hoped he had broken it up, and Edward had been able to eat a little that day--her letter was very short, we are hoping to hear again tomorrow.

We had a letter this PM from brother Butler. They are pretty well--just commencing a new term. We have been having very cold weather, but it has grown warm again and very pleasant--we have a nice lot of apples and a good many pears on that tree in the garden--but we have not got any peaches. I fear I shall regret it all the year if we do not get any, but I can
