The lettuce plants you sent all died most as soon as they were planted, though I shaded and watered them but they were too tender - you had not better send any more as ours are coming, and we have some we got from Mrs Edwards. Tell Mrs T the fuchsia she gave me is doing unclear also some of the morning glory I took from her garden, and the little air plant. Our friends here Mrs & Mr P are very kind and we enjoy being with them. They make it seem as much like home to us as it is possible.
