Mr and Mrs Gilbert Cowan arrived in Chicago at 8, Oclock from Louisville Sunday, December 29, 1901

To day is cloudy, and looks like snow. all of us well, Mr Harvey,s cold better, Elbert gone to church, Mr A.C. Badger has gone to Kenilworth to dine at my son,s Mr Shreve Badger. Mr & Mrs Gilbert Cowan were to arrive to day from Louisville, and stop a few days at the Annex. Auditorium, she is the Granddaughter of Mrs G.W. Swearingen. We had a lovely dinner to day. and a young man, by the name of Mr Griffis. came and took dinner with us, he is at the University in Chicago, but came from Marietta Ohio, where he went to College. his Mother lives in blank Wales. he will get his diploma, and be a Doctor, Mrs Harvey played the Piano, and Mr Griffis sang many pretty hymns he has a fine voice. I had a long lovely letter from Ada C. Swearingen, she received many handsome gifts, the beautiful red dinner and breakfast set of China, red border I sent Ada as Bridal gift was made in France, especially for one. it is a very complete sett. with Pitchers, Comports fruit bowl. Large salad bowl. butter plates, fruit saucers, besides - the full sett of Platters, Plates & dishes
