Saturday, August 31, 1901 This was a beautiful day until four, then it became cloudy and looks like rain, This morning after breakfast we had a call from Miss Donevan, and Miss blank after they left, I went in a Carriage to the Beach, to see Miss Ballard go in the water, also Elbert and Bland. Jr. Mr A.C. Badger went down to look on, at four, Miss Claire Wilson came in her cart for Mr Ballard, and Elbert, and Miss May, went on Wheels, and Miss Fanny and Miss Susie and Bland. Jr all went to Allaire on their Wheels. they all returned at half past seven Mr Ballard returned late; but he said he had been to Seabright. After dinner Elbert went to the Casino, and danced. Mr A.C. Badger went over to the Casino to see the dancing, I could not go on account of the pain in my shoulder, Mr Ballard and the young ladies played cards, Mrs Shreve and I talked, and read. My first visit has been a very delightful One here, but it has been a great regret to me, that I had this cold and Rheumatism in my system. so I could not sit on the Beaches, and watch the bathers.
