Sunday July 18th 1875 It commenced bright and sunny. all of us well. I rose early so did Hunt, went down stairs and found it was the bell to wake the people and breakfast would not be ready for a half hour, so we went out on the porch in the sun and soon breakfast was ready. It began to cloud over and at eleven it looked like rain, but we all went to church in Mr Lufkins Omnibus, it was a pretty white Church and a good size Congregation, also a good Choir the minister was very good, we stopped at the Cottage and took Belle and John to church with us. we then came to dinner, and I wrote to Chicago. at three O. clock I walked down to see Belle with Tom, and stopped about two hours. then Mr Lufkin sent a Carriage for me. so I came home to tea, It now rains very fast. and everything seems so gloomy and sad. I grow very tired of things that once pleased me so much. X Eva,s death has been a great Calamity to a great many and it has taken twenty years from me. indeed even more Monday July 19th 1875 This has been a glorious day. after the rain of last night we are all well, Hunt is himself once more. our party at the Hotel could not go this morning fishing, as the surf was too much, about twenty boarders including my family and Faulds all walked over to the observatory after dinner I walked to Belle,s cottage with Dr Hulce stayed about two hours and returned, they all well but baby coughs badly. Belle called in her Carriage that she has hired to take me to drive, a large party from Brewster came here to night to get supper and Cream I sent our Buggy for Belle and she came over and stayed untill ten O. clock and I sent her back in the Buggy and gave her Ice cream. received many letters and papers Tuesday July 20th 1875 I never saw a more lovely day than this, all our party and Tom went out in a large Sail boat fishing with Mr Weskott, Mr Tewksbury, Mr Nelson, Captain Smalley and Mr. blank Hunt and I went to the Beach to see them off. Mattie and James are going to the Village of Denniss with Belle. Belle came to dine with us and I walked home with her, she sent for Dr Hulce to see John,s foot, I walked home with him, to night they are dancing in the parlour. we do not take part in anything.
