Thursday July 8th 1875 To day Mrs Mc Kay, Mrs Alrich, Mrs A. B. Pullman and daughters, Mrs Rothback Miss Foote, Miss F. Hilton Mrs and note left margin: baby Angell Ill. Miss Cox, Mr & Mrs Mosher. called to see me and babies. Baby Belle Badger is quite ill with fever. sent again for Dr. Small. my daughter Belle hurt herself lifting her baby out the crib and note left margin: baby Harvey Sick X is threatened with miscarriage, her baby quite sick with whooping Cough. Mrs Fitch going in the morning to nurse baby Harvey. Friday July 9th 1875 It bid fair to be a pretty day, but it is now getting cloudy. last night I did not undress, but staid up with Mrs Nicholson and Lena nursing the sick baby. it was very ill all night, with high fever. it is a very ill baby now. all of my family well. I went down to see Belle early, and found Mrs Fitch, the lady who Mr Harvey has hired to assist Nursing the baby Harvey who has Whooping Cough. she is a nice lady. he pays her fifteen dollars a week. she will travel with Belle to the Seaside, as Mr Harvey thinks he can't go. John is still sick with his foot. Mattie gone to Belle,s to spend the day. Col Nelson called after tea, Mr Angell and I walked down to see Belle. found them better. Saturday July 10th 1875 This has been a beautiful day. all of us well, the little Angell better, Dr Small came to see her this afternoon, I went to see Belle,s baby. she quite sick with fever and John sick with loose bowels. they X will try and get off for the Seaside on Monday. note left margin: dispatch Ada out shopping for her trip. we talk of leaving on Monday too. Mrs & Miss Adams Smith called to day A dispatch from Louisville says they leave for Saratoga and Cape Cod on Monday. Sunday July 11th 1875 This has been a lovly day. all of us well. I went to church first time since Eva died, felt sad and lonely. after church went to see Belle, her baby a little better, returned to dinner and then Mr Angell and I went to Graceland to Eva,s grave. took out beautiful flowers. her grave and Mary Virginia,s are really little gardens, they are so full of flowers, we went again to Belle,s and stayed to supper -- we leave for the Seaside to morrow.
