Thursday Jan 7, 1875 This has been a cold day but suny. all of us Well, Much to my amazement I learned this morning that Mrs John Patterson (nee Jeanie Stewart) was dead, she leaves a baby four days old, the family are much grieved, we feel sad about it, to day Mrs Hibbard called so did Mrs Gunn and daughter. Friday Jan 8, 1875 This has been a good morning, at eleven O,clock Eva Ada Mr Angell and myself all went to the funeral of Jenny strikeout Stewart Patterson, she leaves a baby four days old, her funeral was largely attended by all her many friends, she will be much missed, her old Father and two young Sisters are all that are left. I feel very sad about Jeannie,s death Eva and I went to see Mrs Davidsons Sister at Mrs Graftons, then to the Henry Walters family, Misses Rogers and Mrs McCormick We then stopped at Belle,s and came home late It was snowing fast and turning very cold. Saturday Jan 9, 1875 This is the coldest day this winter, all of us well, it is 28 below, our house is very comfortable it is heated all over with steam, and we dont feel that it is cold, Mr Badger had a fall on the snow, and feels to night quite Sore, I head from Mary to day that Mrs Jeannie Patterson died from cold, she had a violent chill. Sunday Jan 10 1875 Another cold day but not so cold as yesterday, all of us well, no one went to church, all stayed at home and ate candy. and had a good time. Eva talks of giving a party. Monday Jan 11th 1875 To day it has moderated, we all in health, Ada and I have been quite busy making a party dress for her of white Tarletan trimmed in blue, Eva gone out in our carriage, Belle and her baby came up to see us Mrs Leiter quite unwell Mrs Heny Field quite ill with Typhoid Fever, Mr Badger Ada and I went up to Mrs Kimball,s party, and met many friends, Belle & Mr Harvey there
