It is cold to day and looks like rain - last night Mrs Ludington had a party. Octave went. Miss D. Pelgram is giving Belle & Eva music lessons.
Friday Aug 28th
It is a pretty day. I cut out work for my seamstress all morning - Miss Sherman called to see me about her girl May Ward - who I think of taking I went out after dinner after tea Mr Badger Octave Belle Eva Ada & myself all went to the Theatre to see Couldock play Dot. we were very much pleased
Saturday Aug 29th
We are all in health this morning - it is quite cold - have had a fire made - children invited to Mrs Willards to dinner they went. they also invited to a party at Mrs F. G. Adams on Monday. at three I went down street. then to the Office went with Father Badger, Ada & Sheridan to Rock Island Depot to see Mother Badger Aunt Lizzie & Horace - they came - we all went out to the West End with them and took tea - returned late - My Father gone to New York Charleston South Carolina - my birth place is in danger fort Sumpter is [captured - crossed out] taken and Wagner nearly gone -
Sunday Aug 30th
It is a beautiful day - I went with my husband to Rev. Thomas church. William Heiskell took dinner with us. after dinner Mr Badger Belle Eva and William all went out to Father Badgers I wrote to Mary Tyler Johnson. Virginia Sis, Pa & Rev Heywood. Mr G. Bigelow & William Heiskell here to night
Monday Aug 31st
This is again a fine day. We all in fine health. My sister Mrs T T Shreve had on Tuesday at half past four in the morning a fine daughter eleven pounds. this is her fourth child two girls and two boys. Pa gone to New York. I went down street wwith Eva & Sheridan after dinner went out again and sent to Louisville many presents. Ada went to Mrs P. G. Adams child party. after tea I played billards [sic] with Mr Bigelow Mr Hilton Octave - William Heiskell & Walter Hilton our billard table was put on Saturday -

I sent my regret to Mrs Cobbs party to night was down street most of the day - my new serving girl came to night her name is Mary - after tea went to see Licinia
