Wednesday Aug 12th 1863

This has been a very lovely day. Ada quite unwell with fever and headache. I went riding with all the children. and took the Duffields with us. who were spending the evening with us. then returned and went with Virginia and children to see Mrs Hilton. returned late. Mr Badger gone to Mrs Flints party. I did not go.

Thursday Aug 13th

A bright day - all of us well. Ada much better. no news Mrs Ely called with Mrs Harris.

Friday Aug 14th

It is a bright day. we all went out riding - it rained in afternoon children had a fair. Misses Bigelow were here and Hiltons children.

Saturday Aug 15th

Again it is very warm. and looks like rain. Mrs James Miller called. at five O.clock my sister Virginia and our family all wenet to drive - we visited the toy shops - and Stister presented my children white porcelain vases. a top and doll. and my husband a china cup & Saucer Millie Heiskell here to night

Sunday Aug 16th

It is very warm to day - we all well but Ada - she has very bad headache. Brother David Faulds arrived this morning at eight - he and I went to Grace church Mr Badger to Mr Thomas church. Licinia and children came to say good Bye to Sister - at eight O.clock my brother and his family all left us. they returned home on the cars we miss them very much. Ada still has the headache.

Monday Aug 17th

It lightened [sic] fearfully last night and rained - and this morning is cooler. Ada feels very well to day. I went down street shopping returned late. Licinia and I went out to Father Badgers and late our husbands came - Matilda left us to day. she sick.

Tuesday Aug 18th

It is cool and delightful to day - we all well. busy house cleaning. I am going out with children. Mrs Dootie & Miss Flint called at four I went with children and Licinia to see Ariana Generett. returned late.

Wednesday Aug 19th

It is warm this morning. we all well. I will write home. I intend to hire a man for our dining room. we will be compelled to put up Musquitos bars to day. they annoyed us last night. Sisters black girl Sarah had a baby to day in Louisville.

Thursday Aug 20th

It is very fair to day. Mr & Mrs James Trabue came to see me at four O.clock. Mr & Mrs Haskell Ellen and all the Badgers. also the Hiltons spent the evening with we had a delightful evening.
