Hannah 5th

Sunday May 31st 1863.

It has been a funny day -- raining, sun shining and hailing --- none of us went to church -- but Nurse Ellen. Father Badger came to see me -- after tea Mr Beigelow called -- and Mr Henning -- I went down first time for a week. I wrote seven letters.

Monday June 1st

To day has been ushered in with bright sunshine -- and wind high. we all well. received a letter from Mr Badger -- he sent me a splendid large Honiton collar -- just come in -- it is so kind and thoughtful. Mr Bigelow invited me to go to Mr Herfoots on Wednesday our club meets there. I took a carriage to go down town -- and took the four children with me -- went shopping. after tea Miss Flint came in and spent the evening with us.

Teusday June 2nd 1863.

Again the Weather is fine. I rose at five -- expect to meet Mr Badger down. scratched out Mr Busch at his house to buy some of his linen -- our relations from New York will be here at seven this afternoon. we are all in fine health at nine I went to Mr Busch,s with Ada -- met him, and bought about 100 a hundred dollars worth of his linen -- then went shopping -- Mr Feild of New York came and brought two very pretty black & white check Parasols for children -- that their Father sent them.

Wednesday June 3rd 1863.

It is a beautiful day -- we all well -- at 7 O. clock. Octave & Brackett went to the Depot and brought home with them -- Uncle James Badger Aunt Harriet & their Daughter Hattie from New York -- to make us a visit after breakfast we went down town and brought home to dinner with us -- Mother Badger Licinia & Ella -- Ada fell and hurt her cheek right badly -- Mr Feild called to see me this Afternoon after Tea Miss Fleetwood & Mr Morde called to see me -- also Mr Fisher -- Albert. Father Badger and mother came to tea. we played cards untill late -- Mr Badger sent two black and white check Parasols to Belle & Eva -- there is a great excitement in town on account of Burnsides ordering the Times Office to be closed -- and not to publish any more --

Thursday June 4th

It is very fine Weather. we all well -- after dinner Aunt Harriet & I went to a lecture given by Mr Wheeler on the Human Organism -- I enjoyed it much -- afterwards we went down town -- after tea Mr Bigelow came in -- Mr Feild & Miss Flint -- Bracket also -- we had a pleasant evening I sent off Virginia,s and Matti,s hats to Louisville Mrs Robb and Miss Craig called --

Friday June 5th

Beautiful morning -- Aunt Harriet & I going out -- we all take tea with Father Badger to night. Hannah came this morning -- Mrs Long called to day -- it is now quite cool --
